    If I told you precisely what to eat to lose weight and be healthier, would you heed my advice? If I took the time to sit down and determine exactly what you should eat and how much of it- for you to lose weight- would you not only listen to me, but DO what I advised you to?

    You can look in the mirror everyday and wish those twenty-five pounds away.. or you can COMMIT to a diet plan and STICK to it. A diet is not going to be successful if you implement- practically perfectly. I realize that sounds dramatic. But suppose that you were trying to lose a pound of body fat a week- that is a fairly reasonable goal. You wouldn’t need to starve or torture yourself, but you wouldn’t be able to fully indulge yourself either. Anyway, we are striving for a pound a week and on Saturday we are really craving some ice cream, since we have been so great and stuck to our diet flawlessly all week. So we go to Dairy Queen and we get some ice cream, the really tasty stuff too- a blizzard or something equally satisfying. Well, you easily just ate 800+ calories, which is about a fourth of your weight loss for the week! If you reward yourself like that once a week, you will lose up to a pound less per month. And if you decided to reward yourself with Mexican and a margarita (which just may be my favorite things in the world), you have unfortunately set yourself back even more.

    Now, I don’t think you should restrict yourself from all of the most delicious foods- but when you are dieting- you have to either factor in your indulgences and plan accordingly, or refrain from treating yourself at all. No, that is not the most pleasant thing in the world. And that is precisely why so many diets fail and people can not manage to lose weight- willpower. You NEED to commit to a diet plan and STICK to it. Even if someone were to give you the magic formula weight loss and explained to you exactly what to eat- it would be useless unless you stuck to the plan. If you would wholly commit to a good eating plan that was both reasonable calorie-wise and nutritionally (all grapefruit diets excluded), you would be successful. It is as simple as that.

    Keep in mind, that the work you put in today is determining your health in the future. You can be a successful dieter, you just have to commit to losing weight and gaining health.
