  • Acai berry Diet Update: Body Mass Index, A Real Problem?

Posted on February 9th, 2010 No comments

The body mass index is calculated by multiplying the weight with ~700 and then dividing by the height square. It will tell us if we have too much mass.

The real problem is that the extra mass we have is fat or muscles. If it consists in muscles, we don’t have too much to worry, because we are not so prone to health risks, injury risks or others.

The main problems are appearing because the fat is surrounding the blood veins, while the muscles stand apart. Also, the fat will tend to surround other organs that usually should stand clear. For example the heart.

Having muscles and practicing every day will keep the heart free and also will make the heart muscles stronger. Yes, heart has also muscles, to pump the blood. If that muscle is untrained we should have real problems.

But, is there any problem of having muscles ? Yes, it is. Although everything look fine and in perfect shape, our heart is not designed to carry all that weight and other problems will appear.

The main problem with the BMI is that it dirrect affects the heart. But the BMI is low as height goes up. But the height also adds weight, so again, the heart is not projected for that.

The ideal BMI should be between 21 and 25. Under 21 is underweight, over 25 is overweight.

Over 30 is obese. To figure out your BMI you can use an online BMI calculator.
